Description: A young boy stands near a wall showing the damage done by Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge army to Wat Bangkok in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. The Wat Bangkok complex was once the site where monks from all parts of Cambodia came to study an advanced curriculum including math and science. During the Pol Pot regime 1975-1979 this building, built roughly fifty years ago, served as the education building and was straffed with bullets and rocket propelled grenades. Today this structure serves as a dwelling for dozens of monks but the pock marked walls remain. |
