Description: Hmong children whose parents are rural slash and burn subsistence farmers pause on the porch of their home just 15 kilometers from Luang Prabang, Laos. Since citizens must give one third of their rice harvest to the Lao government in this communist country, many people in rural areas begin to suffer from the effects of malnourishment as the end of the dry season arrives each April when food supplies run short. |
